From the remote mountains of Guizhou to the tumultuous crypto world, how did a mountain herding boy with only an elementary school education, once a child laborer, pen a decade-long crypto saga only to plummet to rock bottom in just two years?
1. Grassroots Comeback:
Born in the mid-1990s in the remote northern mountains of Guizhou, my family endured extreme poverty, frequently facing hunger and inadequate clothing. As a left-behind child, I graduated elementary school but dropped out of middle school, starting work at age 13. My journey took me from child labor in Jinhua, Zhejiang, to a small-time thug in a county town, earning the nickname "Little Guizhou" and making the police station feel like a second home. I drifted recklessly, associating with the owner's wife of a small grocery shop, merely scraping by. By chance, I followed a local thug and, with his parents' assistance, gained admission to the music department of Zhejiang Art College. However, persistent bad habits and involvement in fights led to my expulsion. I then wandered across China—Beijing, Shanghai, Xiamen—sleeping under bridges, living in caves, and surviving on leftover scraps from street vendors and the kindness of a prostitute.
2. Crypto Storm:
In 2013, I took over a bar on a notorious street in Hangzhou and met a patron who became my benefactor, introducing me to cryptocurrency. I purchased my first Bitcoin on the BTCC exchange. By 2014, I sold the bar and dedicated myself full-time to managing mining farms—my iconic profile picture captures me holding a bag of mining machine parts from that era. In 2016, I ran a mining machine trading group. The years 2017-2018 marked my peak: leveraging my youthful appearance (I was indeed handsome then) and boldness, I secured a steady coin supply from women in their 30s, achieving my first small financial milestone. Later, I transitioned to burgeoning computing power platforms, earning tens of millions through "betting" contracts. Trading proved consistently successful: investments in DOT, UNI, Pangu, OKEX Joy Beans, Luna, and advertising fees generated substantial profits from widely circulated moves. On Weibo, my posts repeatedly garnered tens or even hundreds of thousands in earnings.
3. Fall and Reflection: From Billions to Tens of Millions in Debt
On Twitter, I squandered thousands of Ethereum, bottomed out 40 Bored Apes near 100 ETH, and dumped hundreds of Bitcoins on inscriptions—particularly Quark, Dogecoin, Trump Coin, and on-chain Memes—repeatedly facing ruin. After Trump's inauguration, I longed Dogecoin at around 0.3 and lost millions of coins. I purchased over 200 OKEX altcoins, each costing from $5,000 to hundreds of thousands. Events like Musk vs. Trump and Iran-Israel conflicts triggered multiple liquidations, wiping out millions. Now, I retain only some Bitcoin and owe 18 million in bank loans (with a 3 million repayment due tomorrow). In just two years, my net worth plummeted from billions to 15 million in debt.
4. Phoenix Ready to Rise:
Is my crypto career over? No, it's merely "resting." As one of China's first-generation "dog patch" figures in crypto, I've experienced both glory and downfall. My greatest mistake? Not quitting after the "Cafe Incident." Today, I still possess assets, resources, and experience, awaiting a long-term opportunity after the market downturn.
Over thirty years of life and more than a decade in crypto—bitterness and madness intertwined. I, Xia Xueyi, a mountain herding boy with only elementary education, started from rock bottom but reached these heights thanks to Bitcoin.
